How we rank businesses

“Recommended” is the default order on category pages. Here is exactly what it means.

    Pages claimed by their owner come first, because the details are confirmed by the business itself.

    Then pages with more complete information: hours, services, photos, website and a way to get in touch.

    Then real reviews from customers. Ratings only ever come from reviews people actually left on Avahere.

    Nobody can pay to rank higher. There are no sponsored spots in the results.

You can always sort by rating or by name instead.

Honest by design

Real reviews only

No made-up ratings, counts or testimonials. A business with no reviews says “No reviews yet”. Businesses can reply to reviews but can’t delete them, and nobody is paid or rewarded for a review.

Private details stay private

Listings show public business information only. We never show owner names or personal phone numbers on a page the owner hasn’t claimed, and home-based businesses don’t show a street address.

Clear labels

“Claimed” means the owner verified the page and manages it. “Unclaimed” pages come from public business records. Ask us to remove a listing.

Frequently asked questions

Is Avahere really free?
Yes. Searching, sending a request and hiring are free for customers. Claiming a page, getting job requests and replying are free for businesses. There are no lead fees and no paid rankings.
Where does the business information come from?
Unclaimed pages are built from public business records. Once an owner claims a page, they decide what it shows. If something is wrong, the owner can claim and fix it, or anyone can ask us to remove a listing.
Which areas does Avahere cover?
We’re starting with Nassau County on Long Island, NY: every town, village and hamlet from Great Neck to Massapequa and from Glen Cove to Long Beach.
I own a business. How do I claim my page?
Find your business on Avahere and choose “Claim this page free”. After a quick check, such as a code sent to the business phone, you can edit everything.
